Appointment is set

December 31, 2006

I have set an appointment for Vilay on Thursday in Cincy with an immigration officer.  I could only do it today since my schedule for work wasn’t posted until this afternoon.  I think they may give him an interim work authorization.  No one told us that he could get that before.  I just read about [...]

Pant trouble

December 30, 2006

Vilay:  “My pants are upside down.” Me:  thinking…What in the world is he talking about? Me:  watching…my husband take his pants off and turn them inside out.  Me:  “Sweety, it’s not upside down…it’s inside out.”  I couldn’t stop smiling for at least five minutes thinking of him wearing upside down pants.

My life is a soap

December 29, 2006

We found out today that more information was requested back at the end of October on the I-485 form for Vilay.  We never got the letter.  It was most likely mailed to my mother’s home and I will never know if she didn’t give it to me or if it was lost in the mail.  [...]

Making my own luck

December 21, 2006

I have been reading some of my old posts to try and find my voice again.  I think that it is helping.  Once we moved from our apartment in Strasbourg into my husband’s parents home, I lost my heart for writing.  I want it back.  I know that I miss France and that it will [...]

I have always admired her story and the history of her bravery. I most of all admired how she believed without faulter in God and [...]

Stomach flu is so much fun. NOT!

December 19, 2006

Our family has been down for the past few days with the stomach flu (viral gastroenteritis).  It all started with Boy Blue and lots of clothes washing by Mama to clean up what was coming out of both ends.  Fun.  fun.  fun.  Let me tell you. Then, Sweet Bear started Sunday night and Petite Clown in the [...]

Every day memories

December 18, 2006

We are going to drive to get my Angel Girl on Thursday.  Correction.  Vilay is.  Alone.  I must work. It is suppose to be unbelievably crazy where I work for most of the coming week ending with a huge climax on Sunday.  So, I understand that Thursday will be spent working.  I did ask my [...]

Happy

December 16, 2006

I received my Official Statement of Status of Eligibility from the State of Florida Department of Education today.  It does state that I am not eligible for a Florida Educator’s Temporary Certificate at this time. All my coursework from Antioch was before July 1, 2002.  Florida will only accept coursework dated after that date.  So, [...]

Words to live by

December 13, 2006

“Whatever is rightly done, however humble, is noble.”  -  Sir Henry Royce I see this quote several times a week.  It is a gentle reminder that life is what we make of it.  I think it is worth sharing here.

Tom’s of Maine

December 13, 2006

I have stopped using chemical based deodorants.  I, now, only use Tom’s of Maine.  Why?  Because…it is safe.  It works better.  I love the smell (I use Lavender and Vilay uses Woodspice).  When we arrived back in Ohio this past summer, I soon remembered how HOT and HUMID it can get here.  I was putting [...]

Forging ahead

December 10, 2006

Because I cannot wait for the letter from the Florida Certification Department… I have spent a couple hours plucking away at these keys beneath my fingers!  I think that I will have to drive to Pittsburg and take a test in which I can demonstrate my mastery of Subject Area Knowledge (K-6).  After I have [...]

Shamelessly telling it all

December 7, 2006

I miss France.  Period. If it weren’t for Angel we would go back even if we couldn’t buy a house or live beyond paycheck to paycheck.  Why?  I fell in love with France.  I love France.  Yes, I am American.  Yes, I love America.  Yet, the lifestyle in America is empty.  There seems to be [...]
