Carnavals R us

Yesterday, Sweet Bear’s school celebrated Carnaval. She wasn’t happy to have the outfit on and smiled only after I begged for one picture.

Sweet Bear was happy to pose for a scary picture of her being a witchy witch.

This is a very sweet Sweet Bear. Her teacher had painted her face and Sweet Bear decorated her funny clown glasses.

“Yessssss. I had a fun filled day, Mama.” Life is good.

Petite Clown woke up ready for Carnaval. She spent all night tossing and turning to make her hair just right for her costume. Scary Bedhead strikes, again.

Carnaval is celebrated all through Alsace with a huge parade in Strasbourg. I don’t know if we will go. It is so crowded that it is hard to walk through the packed city and strollers just add to the fun. I would love to go anyway and just swim in the wave of people soaking in the noise and colors of Carnaval. It is FUN.

We went the first year and were showered with confetti by the crowd and candy from the parade floats. The costumes were the best I had ever seen and it was a blast for kids and adults alike.

A friend at my daughters school told me that there is a smaller more traditional parade and celebration in Schiltigheim called Bouc Bleu. She said it is better than the big one in Strasbourg. I’ll have to look into it. The name is very interesting, Bouc Bleu. I couldn’t find anything in english as to the origin of this event. Sorry.

Sweet bear is such a cutie. You can tell she definitely has some personality! =o)

Petite clown is also adorable. Reminds me of the way my hair looks when I first wake up! ;o)

Love that hair, Petite Clown. :-)

Yesterday was Mardi Gras here, in the States. I couldn’t celebrate it because I’m on this health diet where I can only drink juiced fruit:( But now its Lent, so I have to starve anyway.

Your girls are so sweet. My hair looks like that in the morning too. :-)

Sweet Bear loved that her sister had such crazy hair today. She kept saying over and over as she covered her mouth laughing, “Look, Petite Clown’s hair is FUNNY.”
    They are a blast.

I could never live on juice alone. That is not healthy. Just eat fresh fruits and veggies and small portions of real food. And, walk everywhere. You will feel great.
Lent is something I have never done…but, lots of my friends have. The usual thing they gave up was chocolate.

Oh! Believe me, this is just a crazy thing that my parents are making me do! Its not about Lent. Its about a Natural Health movement that is kind of sweeping through our family. Its hard to explain. My grandma ran into these people that attest to curing cancer and any kind of disease with herbs and flushes (drinking juices for about three days). Its really weird. Usually for Lent we just give up simple stuff like dessert and movies. I would never force myself to do drink juice and eat nothing! Don’t worry. I don’t know if I really believe in all this Natural Health stuff. But my parents are really excited about it. So I end up doing it too. Unless I move out of the house…Hmmm ;-)

I understand parents…actually, my mother had told me about that and she bought a book from the guy that is leading this movement if it is the exact same one. She wanted to send me his book to and talked about all the time…I told her no thanks.

Hopefully, it will pass soon. I am happy you are not doing it for wrong reasons. Sometimes people worry so much about looking healthy they do unhealthy things. I know. I used to be one of them. I am happy to hear you aren’t one of those. :)
