As white as snow

Snow in the Jura

It has snowed on and off for a week.
It is predicted to snow most of this week.

When I go outside to get my kids to and from the bus stop I carry an umbrella.
I have never carried an umbrella for protection against the falling snow in my entire life before I moved to the Jura.   Believe me when I tell you it is necessary!

Current weather in the Jura:  Snowing hard outside.
My current mood:  Happy. I like snow since moving to the Jura.

The pictures below (taken this past weekend) are a tiny sample of why I have taken a liking to snow. As you look at the photos keep in mind that we have gotten even more snow since the pictures were taken. It is suppose to be sunny tomorrow and I hope to be able to take pictures of the damage after today’s fall.

You may be wondering if I mind that we have had snow on the ground for over three months?  The fact that I have not seen a blade of grass in my village in over THREE months must be getting to me.   There must be a limit to my love of snow.

My answer?

Heck no!

I say, “Let it snow.  Let it snow!”.

Why would I not be bothered by more snow?

That is simple to answer.  The reason is because it is beautiful beyond any words I could try to conjure up.

I have to say I agree. Snow is needed in winter. There is nothing more depressing than the bare trees and fallen leaves. With snow it is like a band aid… The second picture from the top is great…

It is beautiful. We finally got a thaw and our snow of two solid months has finally melted- but of course it snowed immediately again and we’re expecting more tonight. I would enjoy it more if I didn’t have to drive in it. It’s not my driving I worry about- it’s all the other knuckleheads out there who don’t drive for conditions. Enjoy your snowfall!

Thanks everyone! It hasn’t snowed again since the day I posted this. Yesterday was kinda cloudy but today is just beautiful with a big sun. My youngest daughter is sledding right at this moment with her class. How cool is that?

    SwissGuy,
I honestly am not sure but I would guess at least 8 inches which is around 20 cm. But, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was actually around a foot which is around 30 cm. The snowbanks usually come to around my waist but after the snowfall many are over my head! :)
