Avenches, Switzerland (part II)

Avenches was the capital of Roman Switzerland (Helvetia) which explains the many Roman ruins that are found there.

At this time, Avenches was called Aventicum (a Roman settlement around 15-13 B.C.) and had a population of around 20,000. Currently, the population is around 3,000.

I love the photo of the blue house with the shutters! Thanks for making me smile. I’ll have to come back just to look at them a second time later on.

Our day yesterday consisted of rain and wind but then it cleared up. That’s what you get here in Victoria. It’s a lot different weather and we get a lot of passing by weather that goes to the mountains, which we do not have right here.. That’s why I am enjoying the weather so much more.. And it wasn’t that warm only 5C in the day and it got to about 0C by night..

We have had more snow here for the past few days. It has snowed all day long today. I don’t mind because now everything is all clean and white again. I have been sick for the entire week AGAIN. It is weird because it is usually the kids that are sick but lately it is always me!
