Reflecting on my son

November 24, 2009

A facebook update I made today: “Scary when my four year old son figures out how to turn the cordless mouse off and laughs like mad while I am trying to figure out why the computer is frozen up….BRAT!” He is growing up so fast and he doesn’t miss anything.  His speach (French and English) [...]

Melting crayons

November 19, 2009

The other day we melted all those broken crayons that my kids have accumulated. It was easy and fun. We will definately be doing it again! Still can’t say anything about Tuesday because I don’t have any new news to share.  I hope that I do after tomorrow.

Public warning: Old witch ladies giving out evil eyes in Neuchâtel, Switzerland

October 31, 2009

We went shopping in Neuchâtel today. We had to buy my son a winter coat because the zipper broke on his old one. Two girls got their birthday wishes. One wished for a Princess Barbie and the other a stroller for her babies. I will let you guess who wished for what. All three got [...]

A moment in our day

October 22, 2009

My six year old daughter and five year old daughter lost a tooth tonight. First my five year old and later my six year old. I was honored that they trusted me enough to help them pull out their teeth without any tears or fear. It is the sixth for my six year old and [...]

Indian Summer

September 26, 2009

It was uncommonly warm this past summer in the Jura.  This autumn is no different.  Today, we went to the village festival and it was so warm most were in tee-shirts while all the other years were freezing cold. I am tired from baking until midnight for the one day a week daycare in our [...]

August 28, 2009

My six year old has started first grade and has had homework every single night but Friday since she started. It is like pulling teeth to get her to sit and concentrate. It is good the Swiss start homework early to get her in the habit before it gets more serious. The photos below are [...]

Religion in school

August 17, 2009

We have recently received my six year old’s class schedule. On Thursday afternoon, each week, there is a history of the bible course. I am NOT OK with that.  However, I am not sure how I feel about my daughter sitting in a room by herself while the other kids receive their weekly dose of [...]

Wild berry scare

June 21, 2009

My three youngest children ate some wild berries today. I didn’t know about it. I had no idea what kind of plant this is. I have told them a zillion and one times to never eat any plant, berry or lost candies they find outside. They clearly didn’t listen. Vilay called the poison center in [...]

Budding photographer

June 5, 2009

The other day, I was clearing off a memory card from my old camera so I could use it in the Nikon. I had a good laugh because it was full of photos that my six year old had taken. Most of the photos were of Emmie Cat.  There are several of her posing with [...]

School craft

March 14, 2009

My two youngest girls made a really cute craft project at school last week. The penguins were glued down to the bottom of the jars but need to be re-glued now. When the girls blow into their jars their breath pushes the packing balls up. I love that they do such cool projects at school. [...]

Snow park

March 8, 2009

The girls remembered that there is a park in the lower part of Les Bois. We were walking that way and they begged me to let them play there. I laughed knowing that it would be buried but I still wasn’t prepared for how buried. Anyone wanna swing? The kids had as much fun in [...]

Three children in a row

February 7, 2009

My kids love to look at books. When they have a book in their hands they are quiet. So quiet that Emmie Cat must venture out from her hiding place to see what is going on. The children are so engrossed in their books they don’t even notice Emmie Cat sitting at their feet looking [...]

Daytime fun

January 21, 2009

Before our French Papa arrives home from work we clean up all the day’s fun.  :) ********** Edit: I wanted to clarify that the reason I put “French husband” isn’t because I think all French are neat freaks but because my husband and I tease each other that he (the French) likes everything just so [...]

Sledding day

January 19, 2009

We went sledding this past Thursday and Friday afternoon. The pictures below are from Thursday. It was a gorgeous day out and the snow was perfect. We found a large hole that is just near our apartment that we will be using for some years to come. It is the perfect spot to sled. Sissi, [...]
