02.20.07Cultural differences in parentingMy son has started speaking French! He has said lait (milk), oh la la (very important), and oui (yes). He hasn't started to say no in English or French like the girls did. No was pretty much one of the very first words that the girls said. It is still one of their favorite words unfortunately. 02.16.07A castle for the birdsSweet Bear was sitting at the kitchen table finishing her lunch. She has two hours for déjeuner (lunch) and then she returns to école to finish out her day which ends at 4:05. Petite Clown goes only in the morning since les petits only take a nap in the afternoon. Besides mornings are hard enough for her. She is tired when she comes back. In the morning when she sees the school she starts, "Mama, I don't want to go to school. I want to stay with you." 02.14.07All wetI really miss clothes dryers. Of course, dryers are sold in France. But, it is not something that has become a part of every household as it has in America. With three small children a dryer is almost a necessity. In the summer clothes can dry quickly. The problem is in our old apartment (like many in France) there is not a laundry room. I dryed our clothes in our bedroom. Because we have a big family the clothes were always drying in our bedroom. In winter, it can take up to three days for the clothes to dry. 02.13.07Hard oneSweet Bear is stubborn. Each day is hard with her and for her. She wants everything her way or no way. Of course, she doesn't get her way. But, that doesn't keep her from trying. Yesterday, we were waiting for Vilay in the car while he changed our address with La Poste. All of our mail is currently being forwarded to America. 02.11.07Images of our lifeI love taking pictures. I regret that after we moved out of my mother's house that I couldn't take more pictures of our life in America. The cable for uploading picures from our digital camera was left in France. We were using my mother's camera until we moved in with my father which was only two months after we arrived in the U.S. So, we had almost four months of the children growing and of the places we visited that are stored away only in our memories. Our memories fade. This is why I love my camera.

02.08.07My FranceWe made it and are slowly getting the kids back on French time. They have had it the hardest adjusting to when it is day or night thanks to a mild case of jetlag. Boy Blue was terrible during the flight from Cincinatti to Paris. He became so frustrated that he threw his pacifer as hard as he could and hit the gentleman sitting in front of us right on the back of the head. 01.31.07The girls can’t waitSweet Bear and Petite Clown are happy to return to France. Why? They can't wait to go to Ecole Maternelle. Sweet Bear wasn't thrilled about the fact that in America she wouldn't be able to start school until fall of 2008 due to her having a late October birthday. She adored going to school in France. I asked Sweet Bear to tell Petite Clown what she did at school. Sweet Bear told Petite Clown, "You sing, read stories, color and you EAT!" It seems that eating was the highlight of the day.
