04.22.07French Presidential Elections 2007 - first tourI want to let everyone know that you can see the results of the first tour live here. The campaign started months ago. However, in the past few weeks it has heated up with candidates getting equal air time on t.v., with the mailing of each candidates program to each and every registered French voter and with the images of the candidates pasted around villages and cities in France (see image below). 04.15.07A beautiful day in GermanyWe went to Kehl, Germany yesterday. The kids had a blast walking along the river and playing at the park. It was nice because there were as many French as Germans in Kehl. All were enjoying the day together. Kehl park with water fun! 04.15.07Europe has female friendly seats!Every girl out there will understand why I teach my girls to squat and not to sit on the toilet seat. However, in France and Germany I have found some 'sit friendly' seats. One toilet had plastic wrapped around the seat. When you flushed the plastic revolved so that new and clean plastic was ready for the next visitor. Below is a video of a toilet at the McDonald's in Kehl, Germany where we made an emergency pit-stop for Sweet Bear. The girls flushed the toilet at least two extra times before I could stop them because it was just too much fun.

04.10.07German AutobahnThe first few times we drove on the Autobahn I was terrified. Really terrified. There is no speed limit on the Autobahn. Now, I don't allow myself to think about the fact that most of the cars are traveling at speeds that would make it impossible for the drivers to react in case of an accident. In a way it's is fun to watch the cars fly by like racing cars more than cars filled with families. Well, it is fun as long as I don't imagine the what ifs.

03.26.07It was magic. I tell you! Magic!I walked right past this without seeing it. Remember my dog doodoo radar is tuned for doodoo on the sidewalk laying in wait of my feet. This was clearly out of my radar. But, not that of an over curious four year old. Sweet Bear stopped and exclaimed, "Mais pourquoi le chien a fait caca là? Et, comment le chien a fait ça?" 03.21.07In need of some sugar!Can anyone tell me where to find light brown sugar in France and how to ask for it? I made some oatmeal cookies the other day using cassonade. I found online that cassanade was suppose to be brown sugar. It isn't the same. My cookies were dry and not as tasty. I have read online that light brown sugar is used in France but can't find the correct name or where to find it. Is it called Muscovado?

03.16.07Ride with usVilay got upset with me when I was teasing him about priority to the right as a car ran a stop sign in the video below. It was not a priority to the right and it was the fault of the driver in the other car. Boy. Am I happy I am not a man.
