07.03.08Summer BreakSummer Break is finally here! This past week has been a busy one. My five year old finished her last day of school today. She was sick last night so I was worried if she would be able to go today and then there was a storm this morning that threatened to keep us from walking to the bus stop. 06.28.08Swiss School girl[gallery] Yesterday, we went to a meeting between my youngest daughter's teachers and her future classmates. I don't know why but I felt more comfortable than I have ever felt around the teachers. My five year old is already in their classroom and her sister will join her in the same class this fall. 06.25.08Naturally BilingualI stopped this morning to talk to two older neighbors who started a conversation with me about the weather. It wasn't long before one of the men took the opportunity to tell me that I should speak French with my children and not English. His reasoning is that because my children are French I should speak in French with them. 06.20.08Sisters foreverMy four year old daughter received a letter in the mail from her teachers explaining that she will start the école enfantine this coming August. She is invited to meet her future classmates, their families and teachers in a week. She held the letter close to her body with the biggest smile on her face. She looked up at me with tiny happy tears in her eyes and said, "I am going to school, Mama!" 06.18.08Chicken poxWhen I stretched my arms this morning and then rubbed my eyes open, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Sun! Today, for the first time in days, we have sun. Many of the children in my five year old daughter's classroom have chicken pox which is kinda a downer to the sunny weather. 06.11.08La grêle (hail)Two days ago, we had a huge storm. It had threatened to rain all day. Around dinner time the hail started without much warning. Luckily, I had taken down my laundry from the lines outside only an hour before. We found out the next day that six cows were killed by lightning in a neighboring village. Cows are left outside to eat, sleep and do whatever cows like to do in the 'wild'. However, storms like the other day make it a little dangerous to be so free. 05.29.08Hard decisionsWhen we went to Fribourg a little while back, I had mentioned that there was an opportunity there. I traveled there for an interview for a position with a company. It was for good money and it would have been nice on my resume for Switzerland not to mention a great learning experience in an international environment. The problem was that I didn't feel the move.
