05.06.08A post about a day out of my life that turns into a rantWe had a big sun yesterday. Yesterday was my laundry day. I hung clothes outside for the first time this year. Even the jeans were dry in a little over an hour. All of this meant that I finished all my laundry before five pm. Everything was folded and put away since I gave up ironing three months ago. 05.04.08Swiss cow bellsBefore I lived in Switzerland, I imagined it filled with the sound of cow bells. The reality isn't far from this image. However, it isn't only cows that wear these bells. I have seen horses wear them as well. Enjoy the sound of life in Switzerland!

05.03.08Saturday in the sunThe horses were interested in us, but only from a safe distance. You can see smoke in the background where a farmer was burning wood that he had cleared from his land. Here another farmer has the bonfire ready to go. Cows taking a pause for a drink. Cows in a field of daffodils. Daffodils grow wild in the fields. It is so beautiful. 05.01.08Tour de RomandieYesterday, we found ourselves beside the road watching the Tour de Romandie. Below are some of the photos we took and one video. The part where all the bikes went by at once was pretty exciting for the children even if it didn't last long. You can hear my kids in the background of the video. Several vehicles drove by with a huge watch on top as shown above. Some of the cars pulled over and gave us gifts such as fanny packs, free cheese and water bottles with their logos on them. 04.30.08Will it be the jackpot or a small change?Vilay and I are at a point where in three months our life will change. Again. It may be a little change. It may be a big change. It all depends on how we play our cards. With a little luck and a whole lotta work, we should be living in another village or city by the end of summer. However, I have learned all too well that I should not count my chickens before they are hatched. I will share details when we are more sure about the winnings.

04.25.08The Jura in SpringOur mountains are blooming with Spring. We are taking nightly walks as we did before the snow. The children run in the fields along the road and search for hidden treasures in nature while Vilay and I talk about how much we love it here. 04.21.08Confession of an expatI have just realized that each time I feel isolated here in the Jura it is because of something going on with my neighbors. In the States, I would have simply thought I have bad neighbors. However, since I am an expat in a new country it is too easy to in a sense blame the new country. 04.20.08Sunset - MoonriseLiving in the mountains is living close to nature. I am continuously surprised by the beauty of the unexpected. We were walking in the mountains around our village when I turned to see the biggest moon coming up over the mountain. It was huge. It was breathtaking.
