10.02.07A hand full of changeBelieve it or not I have thirty two Swiss francs and some odd change in my hands. It doesn't look like much when it is all in coins. However, it is. As an American living in Europe, I must constantly remind myself that those coins are not small change to be casually tossed into the deepest regions of my purse. The largest coins shown in the image above are worth five Swiss francs (currently around 4.25 in US dollars and 3 Euro)!

09.30.07Berne (Bern), SwitzerlandWe had to change trains three times with three kids and two strollers to get to Berne, the capital city of Switzerland. It was worth it. The train from Bienne to Berne had a second floor. We happily pulled the kids and strollers up a flight of stairs just for the view. It was wonderful. The kids were beside themselves with excitement. 09.17.07La belle SuisseSweet Bear took this photo. She is becoming quite the photographer. Petite Clown hasn't yet figured out how to take a photo without getting her fingers in the shot. Once she does I know she'll be as good as her sister. They are always pointing out things to me during our walks. Some of the trees are beginning to change. It is not at all as dramatic as in Ohio. 09.16.07Saturday outingWe took the train to La Chaux-de-fond to buy Sweet Bear and Petite Clown some shoes. Afterwards, we took advantage of our all day tickets. When taking the train it is generally cheaper to buy the all day tickets rather than the round trip tickets. The all day tickets allow us to go anywhere in the Jura canton by train or bus for the entire day. So, we went to Saignelégier for the Marché Bio (Organic Market). 08.26.07Bienne, SwitzerlandWe took a train trip to Bienne (Biel), Switzerland yesterday due to a severe case of cabin fever. We are not accustomed to living in a small village just yet. The Lake of Bienne (Lac de Bienne) was beautiful. We had lots of great company. Several swans and ducks came up to say hello to the kids. A little bread helps to get their attention. Vilay and I. Why? The story of the day was the fact that in the whorehouses of Zurich girls as young as sixteen are being offered to clients. What is more upsetting is the fact that it is legal.
