Emmie Cat

We haven’t had a family pet for years. Our family cat, Annie Cat, has lived with my brother for almost five years now.  We had to leave her in the States when we moved to France in 2004.

Today, Vilay finally caved and said we could have a cat.  It wasn’t just the pressure from myself and the kids.  It was, also, because he likes having a cat in the house.

We have decided to name the newest member of our family, Emmie Cat.  If it were left up to Vilay he would have simply named her Annie Cat after our Annie in the States but that didn’t feel right to me.

Emmie is exploring the apartment and doing surprisingly well with the three kids.  She has even rubbed against my son’s legs after he has crawled around on the floor following her everywhere.  I thought she would be terrified of him but she isn’t.

Emmie Cat is a gentle and sweet cat.  We are so lucky to have her.

Did you know that I am “scared” of cats, I mean it’s not a phobia but cats make me so uncomfortable, if I enter a room and see a cat , I freeze, sure enough, the cat’s going to come and touch my leg, or rub his back against it, oh sweet lord, I can’t take it, I just dislike cats very very much…

I love cats. Mine has “issues” being found in an animal shelter and isn’t comfortable around movement which means children especially, but he sure is sweet.

When you visit I will lock her in my bedroom. My mother is exactly the same with cats. The only cat she ever liked was Annie Cat, our cat we had to leave in the States. I have a feeling she will like Emmie when she comes to visit but if not I will have to lock Emmie up then too. :)

I love cats, too. I always have. I like dogs but I wouldn’t want to actually have one of my own. I like to pet other peoples dogs. :)

Your cat is lucky to have you to take care of him!

I agree that life is better with furry friends…especially in the winter when they can keep us warmer! :)

WoW I am so envious. I miss my cats so much its ridiculous. I think I would have less of a problem being in my apartment if I had someone there to keep me company. Is it bad if I start counting the days till I move home to see them?

I know how you feel because I really missed our cat that we had to leave in the States.

My kids are crazy about Emmie! So are Vilay and I. :)
