I think my list is topped with being in Canada is being part as an expat. I miss the sun, affordable living, affordable salaries, and penny pinchers here that make me want to do more than scream...

Great post - thanks!

I miss Switzerland already... The food, lifestyle and way of life support my admiration for living in Switzerland.

I feel for you. I think maybe I understand just a little bit of what you're going through. My two sisters live almost 1000 miles away. Sometimes its scary to think I'll never know my sister's kids very well.

I know how hard it is to miss your family. I'm about as far from mine as I can be while living in my own country. When my husband was in the Marine Corps we were always hoping to be stationed somewhere overseas for a change but it never happened :( So I live vicariously through you expats!

Wonderful post. Missing my family (and friends) is by far the hardest part of being an expat for me too--all the other challenges are there, sure, but missing them is the only one that hasn't faded even a bit in my five years across the pond.
