Farm Town addiction

My Farm Town farm
Picture of my farm taken today.

I am embarrassed to admit that I play am addicted to Farm Town.

It started out innocently enough.

I accepted an invitation to join Farm Town (which is an application on Facebook) from my mother (I think) and within two days I was hooked.

It is fun to see what other people do with their farms and it can get a little competitive. For example, my goal is to pass my brother who is at a higher level than I am.  All of that is nice but when I tried to explain my Farm Town addiction to my husband (who just doesn’t get it) it was easy.

I love playing this game because I can play it online with my family.

I can work on their farms and they can work on mine while we chat using the game’s chat box. I have talked more in the last few weeks to my family than I have in the last year…all because of this game.   It is an easy and free way to stay in touch with my mother and brother as well as some cousins.

I can’t see my family in real life but I can see their Farm Town characters running around my farm or theirs which is the next best thing.  I think it is cute that when my mother talks to me using Farm Town she always puts her character next to mine.

It is nice to see ‘us’ standing next to each other while she and I chat online.

I am embarrased to admit that I am addicted to playing Farm Town.  However, I am happy that I have found another way to stay in touch with my family while having a little fun at the same time.

And, I WILL pass my brother in levels soon.  :)

I can’t wait to email him when I do!

My dirty little secret is I play Farmville (similar I believe) – it is addicting, but I admit I love seeking my “crops” grow within a day or two instead of the weeks it takes them around here :)

I’m so addicted too, but this last week i have been so busy and tired that I have tried not to plant and do a bit less while the parents were around! hehe

Anne, I am equally amazed by it. :) Usually, I am just not that into games. I think it is the gardener in me that gets her fix in the virtual world now that our garden is starting to die out.

I play Farmville too but just haven’t gotten into it as much as Farm Town. I have noticed that people usually prefer one or the other though.

I hear you. I am going to take it easy on the game more now that I am higher in level because well there just isn’t too much left to do after level 30 unless they add more.

Ha! I thought I was the only one… well, except the few folks I play with! I haven’t had any time to read any of your posts since late August, as I’ve been getting ready for the beginning of the school year. I’ve gotten sucked into FarmVille, FarmTown, and Lil Farm Life, plus a Spanish game. It’s a little embarrassing admitting this, but it has been fun, and competitive, and friendly all at the same time.

I’ve tried explaining to my best friend (she just sounds dumbfounded), but at least I don’t have to explain to my husband, as he is often playing, too.

Your description of your mom standing next to you while chatting is so sweet. Hmmm, maybe I should introduce my mom to these games, too! ;-)
