First snow

We have our first snow even if fall just started.

It is coming down in big white flakes.

Beautiful.

Last year, it didn’t snow until November the 9th.  However, I was told by someone that it can snow as early as September.

Winter is long here while spring and fall are short and sweet.  Summer isn’t really that long either.  But, I don’t mind.  The snow is so pretty on the mountains and it isn’t nearly as cold as it gets in Ohio.  The bitter cold of Ohio is what made me hate winter there.

I know about the snow on November 9th 2007, I was in St Moritz..we drove up from Lake Como for the day. It was down to -5…we had a quick look round, had a coffee and headed back to Lake Como, just incase we got stranded.

    Anne,
The first comment you made got stuck in my spam catcher. I don’t why. Sorry.

It is a good thing you turned back because that was the day that Vilay told me the Swiss were turning people back at the border if they didn’t have snow chains on their tires!

I really enjoyed your photos of the snow.

That is when we decided to turn around quickly, when we saw all the locals with snow chains, or should I say trying to get them on!!! It was rather scary driving back down those really really steep roads.

Thanks for comment about the photos, not bad from the car with a small digital :-)

    Sissi,
I was wondering if you got any snow. It is still hanging out on top of the tip of the mountains but everywhere else the snow has melted.

I forget to tell you that we would love to visit during the break and I will email you!
