Homework blues

My six year old has started first grade and has had homework every single night but Friday since she started. It is like pulling teeth to get her to sit and concentrate. It is good the Swiss start homework early to get her in the habit before it gets more serious.

The photos below are after the first day of school. She is doing her homework for the very first time.

The homework is simple but important. Here she is making stripes on scarves which teaches her to make nice straight lines preparing her for writing.

I know I haven’t been posting much lately since we went to Strasbourg.  I have meant to but have so busy with school starting.  Vilay, also, started going to watchmaking school three nights a week.  It has been a little crazy around here but we are starting to settle into our new schedules and responsibilities.

homework is no fun

I guess it’s that time of year for new routines! Great photos and good luck with the homework, i’m sure it will get easier.

They get homework in the Uk too, but not sure which grade it starts, but I think to have it everynight after a long day at school is not right. I have always thought this, and it is a struggle for the children. One of my sons, who left school years and years ago, was so bad, he said “I have been at school all day” I need a break from learning!! :-)
