Laryngitis scare

by Pumpkin on November 7, 2009

My sick girl about a month ago

My seven year old woke up around 3:30 a.m. Friday morning barely able to breath.

It was scary.

We quickly got her to the hospital thanks to a neighbor who has a car. It took well over an hour to get her breathing without struggling for every single breath.

It turned out that she has laryngitis which can cause difficulty in breathing (mostly in children).

She and I spent the day at the hospital while her father stayed at home with her younger sister and brother.  We arrived home late that night by train and found them waiting for us with an open door.

Today, she is fine except for not being able to speak above a whisper.  Even in spite of not being able to talk above a whisper she has continued to argue on and off throughout the day with her sister.  I would say things are getting back to normal very quickly around here.

And, that makes me happy.

That is so scary. That is the worst thing for a mom to go through- seeing your child being sick…
I am so glad she is feeling better :-)

Thanks everyone. She is still not 100 percent herself but she is feeling better. I am going to keep her home Monday from school and Tuesday morning she is suppose to go swimming with her class. I won’t be sending her to swim after this. So, she will have another day and half to recuperate.

It was one of the scariest moments in my life…I never want something like that to happen again.

It’s hard to find something more stressful than having a sick baby. Even though she’s 7, I’m sure you understand what I mean. Glad to hear she’s recovering and hope you are as well!
