Le Gruyère

I am sorry I didn’t know about this cheese until moving to Switzerland. It is that good.

Kalee November 4, 2009 at 7:46 pm: My husband and I love Gruyere! We were in England, making quiche, and regular American swiss cheese wasn’t cutting it, so we headed to the market, and Oh My God! Now we hunt it down. And our favorite is just eating it, plain, with a glass of chianti, which for some reason brought out it’s flavor more than say, a Bordeaux.

They are always a bright spot in my day. Makes me feel a bit closer to my home land.
expatraveler November 8, 2009 at 12:25 am: So I went to buy some Gruyere at the store and to my horror, for a tiny square (say 150g or so) (1/4 of which is not edible) it was $8.00 CAD!!! I put it down and my hopes went down the drain on eating that cheese any time soon. I guess I’ll keep looking for it elsewhere to see if it is any cheaper…. ;-(
