Mama got some new shoes!

Someone asked demanded to see pics of my new shoes. Well, I am not one to disappoint or leave others in suspense. So, without further ado, the pictures are below. Nothing too exciting.

As I mentioned before, the shoes must match all of my (3) outfits which translates into boring shoes. The shoes are Esprit which is a brand I have, yet, to see in Strasbourg. I don’t know if Esprit can be found in France. However, in Germany (Kehl) I have seen Esprit childrens and adults clothing and shoes.

I have had a love of Esprit since I was in college. I went through a phase where I would wear nothing but this one brand from head to toe if at all possible. See! At one time, I was a total fashion freak, but those does are gone….forever. I still really like the attitude of Esprit. It’s casual while stylishly clean and simple.

Mama's new shoes

From the front these shoes don’t look much different than the one’s my grandmother used to wear. Yelp, I got granny shoes!

Until, you catch the sides sporting racecar like strips.

And, just on the outside heal Esprit puts une petite pub (a little advertizing). It’s ok by me.

I almost didn’t buy them (even if I liked them) because I was worried how I would wear them with shorts or a skirt in the summer. Socks with bare legs and those shoes….no way! My very practical husband tells me that I should buy the shoes and just not wear socks. Apparently, that is what all the other girls do in the summer. Yes, I know which girls. The girls with the cute little skirts framing cute little legs.

So, if you are a woman in need of some fashion advice just ask your brother, friend, boyfriend or husband. They will most certainly know what they like best. Aren’t we really dressing for them anyway?

I love the colors! You go, Granny! ;-)

Hey, I told you already. The shoes gotta match everything ;)

Glad to see your doing as asked and posting up the pics, we were all dying to know what they looked like you know !

I am a HUGE esprit fan too, and yes they are all over France now.

The shoes are cool and I love the “go faster” stripe but there is no way on Gods earth that I could survive without at least 15/20 pairs.

I love the shoes, they remind me of bowling shoes. :) I loved Esprit too… I remember having a ton of the bags that just said “Esprit” on them. WOW that brings back memories. I wish I still had one or two of them it’d be nice to put all Thea’s ballet stuff in.

    :)

I should have known to put a pic of the shoes up! My bad. I can’t find Esprit in France, Pauline. I must not be looking in the right places which are probably the huge department stores that we avoid because of the babies. Everything is so nice and beautiful and too tempting for little girls to break. One day I shall rejoin the human race. I used to have at least five pairs but not since we had three babies so close together. They always need something more than I do.

CJ-I first saw the “bowling” shoes in Paris six years ago and laughed that the French were wearing bowling shoes as a fashion. I saw Americanized versions just starting to come out in Ohio right before I moved to France two and a half years ago. My oldest daughter who still lives most of the year in Tennessee says these shoes are even there but again a little different. Do you have them where you live? I think it is fun to watch fashion travel the world. BTW, American fashion is found in France with a French touch as well. Levi’s are the big thing in Strasbourg now but let me tell you they are a pretty penny. I prefer to send my family money to bring them to me from America the next time someone comes.

You can find socks that aren’t visible over the tops of your shoes. It’s the way to go.

    Hope this helps ;-)

    Jessica,
I will have to look for those.
I have worn anklets in the past but you can still see them and I don’t like to wear white with shoes that are not white. It is my mothers fault. She always told me growing up to never wear white socks with any other color of shoe and not to wear black with white shoes ever. I don’t why it matters but now it is embedded in me for life.
    ;)

I think most men would suggest wearing nothing at all.
Socks? We are talking about socks right?

  • Pumpkin Pie March 23, 2006, 9:27 am

    Socks, yes.
However, it could be said that men are happy when more is reveled ;)
Maybe not too much because that is all the fun but just a little.

Ha ha I am laughing at tongue in cheeks comment, because, that would surely be my husband’s suggestion!
I have like esprit, too, since collegen and found it funny when it became a big deal here in france. You can get the clothes and shoes in Aix-en-Provence and Marseille.

Well, I will have to keep going to Germany since it is closer. It’s good for the relationship between the countries anyway. Germans shop in France and we French shop in Germany ;)
    I really do love Esprit.
