My life

My life is not what I dreamed it would be when I was growing up.

I didn’t find success in a career as I thought I would.  I don’t have the big house with the white pick fence I once dreamed of.

Life has been much harder and at times more desperate than I could have ever imagined.

Yet, it has been and is much richer than I could have ever hoped.

The beauty that surrounds me each and every day in this country that I live in, humbles me.

As time goes by, I find my place in Switzerland.  I learn how to navigate in a country that has become my home even when at first I fought it.

In the end, I have found a place where people still trust one another.  There is a strong community in our village that I have never had before.  I don’t know how many times I have been deeply touched by the kindness of one person or another here.

People help each other and care about each other.

Our life is quiet here.  It is not boring.

It is calm and peaceful.

We have a beautiful life that others dream of.

Even though we are poor and still live month to month we have all that we need.  We have learned to live modestly but to enjoy the things that matter the most.

We enjoy the sky, the moon, the mountains, the fresh air, the community and most of all we enjoy the simplicity of our life.

We are lucky and I don’t take that for granted.

I think life is what you make it no matter where you are.

If you lose hope or stop working to make it better then you will be lost no matter if you live in a mansion or a shack.

My life is blessed by many small wonderful moments even if it is not what I had hoped it would be.

It is a life that is full of love and hope.

Oh, and it is full of adventure!

Compassionbloggers.com – I am not an overly religious person because I have my own beliefs and I am pretty private about it.  However, I do think that when the faith and hope of others come together so much good can be done.  This is the case with Compassion Bloggers.  These bloggers are doing amazing work and have amazing stories to share.

When people do what they can to help others (even if it isn’t as much as they would like), it can and will make a difference.  It is possible to build communities with the help of the world and to give hope to children that need it.

I must learn to take things as they are, and not fight for something else. Whatever that something else is!!! I feel unsettled, at the moment.

Life has been much harder than I ever imagined, but conquered most of it..

I have my health, my husband, my sons, grandchildren, who are all doing good!

I must learn to appreciate everything around me, instead of being bored. I am surrounded by houses, and yet it is very lonely here.

One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon – instead of enjoying the roses that are blooming outside our windows today. ~ Dale Carnegie

This affirmation came up on my blog today…I have a daily affirmation widget you can get…just thinking how apt this is!!! :-)

I think that until we learn to make ourselves happy with the life that we have we will never be happy no matter where we live.

About the quote on your blog – I think someone is trying to tell you something. :)

Thank you for taking the time to say hello and for your kind words. It is wonderful to finally meet you. :)

    Thank you.

There is so much beauty where you live! And I’m discovering so much over here on my side of the world, when I get a minute to breathe!
