Oh Mister Sun

Mr. Golden Sun…

Is shining down on me! :)

It is 15 degrees Celsius (59 degrees Fahrenheit) and it is only 9:30 in the morning! It is suppose to get into the low 20’s (70’s F) later today.

I told Vilay last night during a walk around the village that the five months of snow was worth the spectacular spring that we are enjoying. We have more flowers than any other year since we have been here. This weekend, I am looking forward to walking in the mountains again to see what has bloomed since last weekend.

Vilay and the kids have a long weekend off. Thursday is a day off and most people (including the schools) take Friday off too. Friday being one of the many bridging days (jours de pont) offered during the year.

We are looking forward to a nice long relaxing weekend!

I have planted pumpkins, green beans and zucchini in our garden.  I may plant some carrots but we don’t have a lot of space.  I had asked for half of a gardening plot thinking it was plenty big enough.  It isn’t.  Next year, I will take an entire plot and still have to carefully plan out the space.  We are planning to buy a congélateur (freezer) before next year to hold all the bounty from next years garden.  I love to garden and am so happy that we have our very own even if we live in an apartment.  I have only seen landlords offer a garden to tenants in Switzerland.  It is, yet, another part of the Swiss culture that I adore.

Apparently the colder the winter the better the summer… soil wise, and all accounts it looks like this will be a good farming year too. Cloud and silver lining I think…

I too think gardens are great. We do not have one here but I also want to get a freezer. That is one great thing for sure about Switzerland. I can’t wait to see the pics. I need to post mine from my 4 day weekend that just passed.
