Princess shoes

My four year loves these shoes.  If I even hint that I may throw them out she will beg me not to.  She has even went so far as to hide them under her bed!

With the weather getting colder, I have been able to convince her that it isn’t really wise to wear her beautiful princess shoes.  She, finally, allowed me to store her precious shoes in the closest until next spring.

In a way, I am tricking her.

I know very well that her feet won’t be able to fit into those shoes by the time winter has passed and spring flowers start to bloom.  I, also, hope that she may forget all about her princess shoes by this time.  Perhaps, we will replace them for a new pair of shoes made for a bigger princess and she will be happy?

What I find amusing and sweet is that you and I may see old beat up shoes fit only for the trash.  However, my four year old sees princess shoes meant for dancing and all things beautiful.

For her, these shoes will always be her princess shoes.  She tells me each time that they are the most beautiful shoes she has ever seen.  It doesn’t matter that the straps are fraying, there is hardly any white left or that even the flowers are beginning to pull away from the worn out shoes.

She loves her pretty princess shoes because when she slides them onto her feet they turn her into a beautiful princess and make her happy.

Now, how in the world can I throw away shoes with such magical powers?  Actually, I would love to find a pair in my size!

Oh, that magic of childhood. Everyone should have a little kid in their life. They show us how magical life can be.

I am going to take your advice. I think you are right.

    Thank you.

I totally agree with you. My kids help me see things I never would have before.

Those shoes would be my favorite too! I love them and would wear them if they had them in my size now! I hope you can find a new pair like that next spring!
