Processed turkey

I found out an interesting thing the other day in regard to turkeys.  We all know how turkey is a must have dish on any Thanksgiving table, right?

Well.

I was talking with someone in a grocery about how fresh is a fresh turkey.  I asked him how long after the turkey is killed does it take to reach the grocery.  He went on to explain that it is hard to say but typically is takes one week for the turkey to reach the store after it is processed.

Processed.  Processed turkey.

I had to chuckle because it is a part of the American culture to hide that we are eating dead animals that we have killed.  Yes.  We kill them.  Processed is simply a nice fluffy way of saying…mmm…killed.

Why?

You have GOT to go and read Surburban Bliss. She posted about how how HORRIBLE it was that canned salmon has BONES in it, and her comments are hilarious. Spoiled Americans at their worst.
