Public warning: Old witch ladies giving out evil eyes in Neuchâtel, Switzerland

We went shopping in Neuchâtel today. We had to buy my son a winter coat because the zipper broke on his old one. Two girls got their birthday wishes. One wished for a Princess Barbie and the other a stroller for her babies. I will let you guess who wished for what. All three got new boots for winter. We haven’t been able to find a pair of boots yet that can survive more than one Jura winter…Meaning no hand-me-downs.

It was a normal day out for our family in spite of the old witch ladies that HATE big families. They know who they are and with one look into their hateful, bitter eyes so will you in spite of their neat and tidy appearance.

During our lunch I whispered to the kids in English, “You all better be good or that old witch lady over there giving us the evil eye is going to take out her broom and beat all of you mean kids with it!”

I said it laughing because my kids were actually being very good for once!

Immediately after I said it I regretted it because my soon to be six year old daughter asked in a very loud voice, “Mama…Where is the old witch lady? Mama…Where is her broom? Is she hiding it under the table? Mama, WHERE IS HER BROOM???”

An older couple nearby obviously understood English and couldn’t help but chuckle. Me…I was the one hiding under the table.

You all watch out for the old witch ladies and their evil eyes if you find yourself in Neuchâtel this weekend!!!

What a cute story! Kids are very honest and most of the time very outspoken.
By the way, I love roasted chestnuts! That is one of the many things I miss about living in Europe :-)

HAHAHA! I LOVE that about little kids. They’ve no shame to stick your foot in your mouth FOR you. ;)

P.S.- You’re boy looks SO much like Vilay! Even from the back!

Katie, I don’t care much for them but I will eat them when it is cold out just to keep warm. :) My husband and seven year old daughter love them.

Evolving, I know he does look alot like Vilay. :)
