I woke up and went to the bedroom window to open the shutters. I stood for a moment watching a women walking her dog in the rain.
A half hour later my mother called me as I was sitting down at the kitchen table with my coffee. Talking with her I glanced out the window to see snow flurries slowly dancing down from the sky.
I was happy to see that the rain had changed to snow. The girls and I ran opening all the blinds wide so that we could watch the snow fall.
The snow drifted lazily across the sky for about a half hour. Then, it stopped as silently as it had began.
