We got more snow last night and it is still coming down hard. It isn’t supposed to stop until tonight.
I had trouble walking because the snow was so slick. The kids loved slip sliding along. However, I think I hurt something on the third fall I took.
In Ohio, the schools would have closed due to the amount of snow and it being somewhat slick. However, I think the Swiss are accustomed to snow like this. So, it isn’t as big of a deal. One of the mothers told me that schools never close because of snow here.
Our mountains are hidden behind a blanket of snow.
Here is a photo of a snow marker to give you an idea of the amount of snow we have right now. If you look, you can see the snow coming down in the photo.
I am typing this at around 10 a.m. in Switzerland. It is still snowing like crazy outside. So, I think we will get at least a couple more inches before it stops this evening. If it stops!
The trees are so beautiful dressed in white.
Someone left the shove out at the train station in our village. Good idea because the way it is snowing they will need to shovel every half hour to keep a walk way clear. I really liked the bright colors against the white in this photo.
This bike isn’t going anywhere. It is snowed in.
My son carrying a snow ball. He carried it all the way home.
Snow angel. Or little devil..notice the snow ball in her hand? It hit me two minutes after I took this photo.

This is beautiful! You’re making me want to move to Switzerland.
Jessica, I really like it in the Jura. I still miss France, but it looks like we are staying in Switzerland for several reasons. Our family is doing better financially here than we have done anywhere else. On top of that, it is beautiful and we have outdoor things to do with the kids all year long.
The Swiss schools are wonderful. That is one of the biggest reasons we want to stay. Besides, we are starting to feel at home here. :)
I am always looking for “home.” I feel like we haven’t found it yet. It’s true, in France, buying power is really poor. Going back there would be a lifestyle cut for us (without even speaking of the low, low dollar). I’m glad you all are doing so well. I’m keeping up with the blog, I’m just usually silent.
It just occured to me that the Jura Mountains must be very simiar to the Appalachians. Have you ever seen them?
(I realize I don’t know where in the USA you’re from…)
Jessica, I hope your family finds a place that you feel like it is home soon. I know how hard it is to live in limbo.
SwissGuy, I am from around the Dayton area which is located in the South West region of Ohio. I have driven through the Appalachian Mountains. It was just after a snow storm and they were beautiful. No fun to drive through but beautiful.
I think the weather here in the Jura is close to what we get in Ohio. Ohio can get a lot of snow but it only lasts a month and then it is gone. However, it is as cold in Ohio as here..actually, it feels colder there because of the wind and dry air. I think that is why I didn’t like winter there too much.
I have lived in Kentucky when I was a teenager. I really liked living in the mountains even then.
Lol – She’s definitely a devil… But I think sweet bear gets that from you.. ;-)
Ah yes the Appalations – I can concur with Swiss Guy.. The jura is so beautiful!
