My four year old daughter received a letter in the mail from her teachers explaining that she will start the école enfantine this coming August. She is invited to meet her future classmates, their families and teachers in a week. She held the letter close to her body with the biggest smile on her face. She looked up at me with tiny happy tears in her eyes and said, "I am going to school, Mama!" She had already attended school in France and was heartbroken this past school year when she couldn't go and her older sister did. ...

Will it be the jackpot or a small change? Life, Life in Switzerland | (0)
Vilay and I are at a point where in three months our life will change. Again. It may be a little change. It may be a big change. It all depends on how we play our cards. With a little luck and a whole lotta work, we should be living in another village or city by the end of summer. However, I have learned all too well that I should not count my chickens before they are hatched. I will share details when we are more sure about the winnings.

A hand full of change Life, Life in Switzerland, Switzerland, Travel | (5)
Believe it or not I have thirty two Swiss francs and some odd change in my hands. It doesn't look like much when it is all in coins. However, it is. As an American living in Europe, I must constantly remind myself that those coins are not small change to be casually tossed into the deepest regions of my purse. The largest coins shown in the image above are worth five Swiss francs (currently around 4.25 in US dollars and 3 Euro)!
