Family day with a Franco-American family

November 30, 2006

We had a nice day walking in Clifton Gorge with the kids.  It is not an easy walk with three children in tow.  However, it is well worth the effort.  We had to beware of slippery rocks and dangerously high clifts (hense. the name. Clifton Gorge or as those that know, Clifty Gorge). I had [...]

It’s a Sweet Bear’s Life

April 15, 2006

I have started a blog for Sweet Bear. She has been calling my blog her site. When I asked her if she wanted her very own blog she smiled big, big, big (as she would say) and said, “YES”! She wrote her very first post with the help of Mama. You can read it on [...]

Poor baby trees

February 1, 2006

We were in Strasbourg last week and on these streets near the U.S. Consulate, the workers were cutting the limbs on the trees. I still think the trees look strange cut so that they form balls on the ends of the branches. Last year, Sweet Bear would say over and over, “Poor baby tees…tey hurt.” [...]

You call that French?

January 24, 2006

I just wanted to see Sweet Bears reaction to my speaking in French with no English whatsoever. All other times I speak to her only in English or say one or two words in French. Never more than one sentence in French. Even then I follow with the same sentence said again in English. Lately, [...]

Finding my French accent

December 6, 2005

The other day my husband asked me, “Did you hear that?” “No, what? I answer, knowing full well what he was talking about. We were all sitting at the kitchen table eating lunch and Boy Blue was fussy. Petite Clown put down her plastic fork and exclaimed, “Boy Blue-uh!” My husband responded, “What? You did [...]

Bi-ling children are so much fun!

November 9, 2005

Multi-cultural is even better.Last night my husband was on the computer waiting for his yucky seafood pizza to get done. I will not eat seafood on pizza. I just can’t. It is like my husbands aversion to peanut butter sandwiches which I still love to eat. I was so excited when my brother sent me [...]

And throw away the key

Just get the key and unlock the door!!!! This was my plea over and over and over again. I had to go to the doc to get three stitches taken out of my hand. Another story. Anyway. I had the silly idea that my almost three year old daughter might like to stay with Mama [...]

How’s about a “french kiss”?!?

September 20, 2005

The french have a nasty reputation for being rude. I am not sure how that is. I quite frankly have not experienced this. I have had some french people be rude to me, but I have had my share of rude americans. You know? Maybe, just maybe, it is not the “french”. Maybe, it is [...]
