Winter is long in the Jura.
Snow is simply a part of our life here.
We had snow as deep as now this past Easter. My children searched for Easter eggs in snow up to my knees which meant it was up to my son’s waist. So, don’t be surprised when you see photos of snow [...]

Snow is a part of life here in the Jura
My life
My life is not what I dreamed it would be when I was growing up.
I didn’t find success in a career as I thought I would. I don’t have the big house with the white pick fence I once dreamed of.
Life has been much harder and at times more desperate than I could have [...]

Photo taken during our walk today for Ruffled Feathers fall scarflette giveaway contest. Her scarflettes are beautiful and I want one!
I need to do dishes and bath the kids before bedtime. So, I don’t have time to process more photos from our walk. However, I will put more up tomorrow and again [...]
Singing in the rain
We took a walk in the rain yesterday. I drug out the winter coats for the kids which are waterproof and warm. With the rain it is starting to get cold outside.
Last night, we shut our bedroom window for the first time in months.
What the mountains look like during a light [...]
Walk before dinner
We decided to take our walk before dinner tonight because we wanted to be able to get out before the rain started. It did start to drizzle at the end of the walk but we didn’t mind much. We like the rain.
Below are snap shots of our walk along the outskirts of our village.

Saturday in the sun
The horses were interested in us, but only from a safe distance. You can see smoke in the background where a farmer was burning wood that he had cleared from his land.
Here another farmer has the bonfire ready to go.
Cows taking a pause for a drink.
Cows in a field of daffodils.

Snow fence
I have lived in the mountains of Kentucky. Granted the mountains weren’t as big as where we are in the Jura. But, we got snow. Lots of snow. Yet, I had never witnessed snow markers or snow fences (pictured above) being put up during winter.
The first time I saw a [...]
Snow markers
Snow markers have been up all over our village since Monday. I was told that last year there wasn’t much snow here in the Jura. However, the year before the snow level was up to the orange!
That’s a lot of snow.
We have already bought snow pants and a coat that is wind and [...]
Weekend photos…
I took this photo the other morning. After I had rolled up the shutter in the girls room, I was greeted by a beautifully criss-crossed sky. I ran and grabbed the camera to capture it.
My inlaws and my niece came for a visit this weekend. When I saw them I told my [...]
