Our beautiful Swiss apartment

July 6, 2010

I am still recovering from the move. It was very hard and tiring. My feet still hurt. However, in spite of how hard the move was it was so worth it. In every way. Our apartment is beautiful. Have a look for yourself.  Just ignore the remaining boxes and the morning dishes. *I started this [...]

Construction

June 14, 2010

We have construction going on here and there all over our village. It has been interesting to watch our village grow little by little over the last three years. Busy day today with laundry and continuing to organize for our move at the end of this month.  I will meet with my youngest daughter’s teachers [...]

Swiss cows in the Jura

May 22, 2010

And, a cat by the train tracks. Happy Weekend, everyone! My In-laws will be here at lunch time. They called last night from Goumois, France which is just at the Swiss border.  :) She was interested enough in me to not walk away. However, she wasn’t ready to come over for a scratch either. The [...]

Handwriting

November 14, 2009

My daughter is learning to write in first grade. That is normal…kids in the US even start in Kindergarten. Right? The difference is that due to the strictness of my daughter’s Swiss teacher my daughter’s handwriting is now better than my own.

Swiss pride

July 27, 2009

One thing that I like is that the Swiss do hang their flag out for Swiss National holiday.  Not only do the Swiss hang out their flag, they put it on many products in the grocery store in celebration of the Swiss National holiday…Even bread and mozzarella cheese! If you live in Switzerland long it [...]

Life in the slow lane

June 18, 2009

My two youngest girls are off with their class in the mountains today. They left a little after eight this morning and won’t come back until after almost six tonight. They were so excited to go. All the mothers watched the children get on the train with their teachers.  The children looked so big and [...]

Meet Les Hérissons

June 4, 2009

My two youngest girls brought home these adorable hedgehogs from their school. We have decided to allow Les Hérissons (The Hedgehogs) to stay since they don’t eat much or require much cleaning up after. I have no idea what herb or plant the hedgehogs are made from.  The girls told me that their teacher said [...]

The hard life

June 3, 2009

Today, Vilay didn’t go into work. He had to have a bad tooth pulled. Luckily, it was a wisdom tooth. Dinner was yummy. We grilled out sausages and I made lentil soup. It has been over two years since I made lentil soup. I used to make it all the time but for some reason [...]

Things that made my Friday wonderful: Using the barbacue that is available to residents of our building. There is a picnic table as well but we decided to eat inside due to the wind and cold. Seeing two green bean plants and one zucchini plant starting to peek out of the soil. Talking to my [...]

Tokens of appreciation

February 22, 2009

I love that our bank tellers give my children caramels when we visit the bank.   Last week, the teller gave each of my children a box of crayons.   This isn’t the first time that my children have profited from our bank’s show of customer appreciation. ********** We didn’t make it to our village [...]
