Above the doors to a bakery inside the Neuchâtel train station you will see this happy carrot.
He is cutting himself up while laying back with a huge laughing smile.
Every time I see it, I am bothered by it. It is disturbing because no one cuts themselves up unless they are disturbed.
It puts a whole [...]

Snowing like crazy
We got more snow last night and it is still coming down hard. It isn’t supposed to stop until tonight.
I had trouble walking because the snow was so slick. The kids loved slip sliding along. However, I think I hurt something on the third fall I took.
In Ohio, the schools would have closed due to [...]
Guess what we got last night?
SNOW! It is still coming down.
It has once again turned in to a winter wonderland here in the Jura.
Beautiful. white. snow. everywhere.
I guess I better go dig out all my kids snow suits I was silly enough to think they wouldn’t be needing again this winter.

Exchanging my Ohio drivers license for a Swiss drivers license
I got my Swiss drivers license in the mail today.
One problem.
It is good only until June of next year. I am required to take 16 hours of instruction before I can get a permanent Swiss license with no expiration. (edit: read here to see how I fixed this issue and now have a Swiss [...]
Choices at the grocery
The first few times I went through our village grocery store, Coop, I wondered how we would do it. It didn’t seem that there were many choices. Sure we had all our basics. However, our Coop is about the same size if not smaller than most gas station convenience stores back [...]
Photohunt: Wooden
I took the photos below during the summer in Saignelégier (link is to city’s official website in English). I fell in love with these wooden shutters the moment I laid eyes on them.

Pain du Jura
A photo of the the bread left over from breakfast.
The pain du Jura (bread from the canton of the Jura, Switzerland) is known for it’s slightly curved form. The outside of the bread is fine and crusty.
What I ate for breakfast was a slice of bread heaven.

What is Tiki?
And, what exactly do you do with it?
I bought a package of Tiki because it said on the package it was a Swiss tradition. I thought it would be fun to try out another Swiss product.
I opened the package and found these little guys.
This is what was inside.
As an American, it reminded me of [...]
Video of boat coming into dock
Vilay made a movie of a boat coming into the port of Ouchy which touches Lausanne, Switzerland. Close to the end you can hear Petite Clown talking. She said, “Papa, on est presque fini.” In English, “Papa, we are almost done.” She was talking to Vilay about the lollipops that he had bought [...]
Lausanne, Switzerland
Three of my favorite photos from Lausanne this past Saturday.
The couple in the photo were quietly sitting while they ate and drank wine together with an incredible view spread out in front of them. It was so romantic. Just like out of a movie.
We saw many people sitting together or alone watching the [...]
