We decided to celebrate Thanksgiving this weekend. Since it is not a holiday in Switzerland, Vilay still went to work and the girls still went to school. It only made sense to wait until we could enjoy it.
I started baking my two apple pies at around 4 p.m. yesterday. While the first pie baked, I made deviled eggs.
This morning, I got up at 7 a.m. to get the rest of the dinner started. I didn’t stop until around noon when we all sat down to give thanks and eat.
We had deviled eggs, potato salad, mashed potatoes, ham, a sauce similar to cranberry sauce, stuffing, corn and apple pie. It was a small Thanksgiving meal compared to what we had back in the States with the entire family.
We will eat the same tonight for dinner.
I asked Vilay to set the table but he didn’t use our nice dishes. I was too tired to reset the table. No one cared and everyone was happy to eat our Thanksgiving meal together.
I baked my ham in pineapple juice and Coco-Cola just like my mother always does. It makes for the best ham.
This is the first time I have had to make stuffing without turkey or chicken stock. I used bouillon cubes and the stuffing still came out delicious.
We will take a walk in a little bit. The kids are playing in their rooms, Vilay is watching tv and I am here at the computer…relaxing with my coffee.
Happy Thanksgiving weekend everyone!!!

The dinner looks incredible!!! I love your different takes on the meal.. And I must laugh as I know the somewhat different cranberry sauce all so well! By the way, the meet went really well and we had lots of fun. :)
Happy Belated Thanksgiving Pumpkin!!! I am glad you had a good one!
