View from the village of Wangenbourg in the Vosges.
Waterfalls of Nideck just under the Château du Nideck near Wangenbourg (we didn’t visit this castle).
If you have been following this blog for a while you know that I love taking pictures of trees and sky. I couldn’t resist these two shots.

To see all the photos from our daytrip to the Vosges click here. There are many nice photos of the castle in Wangenbourg that we visited. There were “rooms” that you could walk in and a couple of fireplaces. If you are ever in the Vosges I recommend visiting this castle. It is my favorite out of all the castles I have seen so far in Alsace. The castle is in ruins, but the history is very real. When walking through the ruins I was walking through rooms that were walked through and lived in by people long forgotten. People that lived in this castle. It was their home.
The kids had a blast running through the ruins. It was the perfect history lesson!

Pumpkin, such beautiful pics! Well, we are in the last stages of planning our trip, and guess what? We might just be staying in a cottage close to this same area! At least it seems so on the map. I can’t wait! I will e-mail you later this week with details.
